Free Flair: April

I can't believe we're more than halfway through April! I've had a lot of ups and downs lately, and sometimes you need a reminder that "you got this."

The second wallpaper is based on the saying "April showers bring May flowers." I hope you enjoy them!

Hot off the presses: Patches!

I'm so excited to announce that I'm getting into the patch game! I've designed two patches based on my lapel pins, and here they are!

They feature felt, metallic gold thread, and an iron-on backing. You can find more info or purchase them on at my shop. Here's what the backing cards look like. I hope you like them!

And here's what it looks like on my sweater:

I found the best way to iron them on was to:

1.  Place the patch where you want it on a flat surface or ironing board.

2. Take a handkerchief or pillow case and put that on top of the patch.

3. Take the iron, for cotton I set the iron to the highest setting, and press my iron on the patch. I move iron around in slow circles over the patch for about a minute.

4. Flip the sweater inside out and then press the iron on the backside for about 30 seconds, no handkerchief or pillow case needed.

5. Let it settle for a little bit, and voila! You have sweater with a patch on it! Enjoy!

If you're in San Francisco, I'll be at the Urban Air Market in Hayes Valley on May 1st from 11am - 6pm right next to Blue Bottle.

Free Flair: Love

I have had a slow start to the new year. Finally feeling like I'm getting back into the swing of things. I'm going to try to make some more wallpaper every month. This month's theme in honor of Valentine's Day is love.

Valentine's Day is also sometimes known as Single Awareness Day, so I thought it would be fun to make a "singles" pattern as another wallpaper. Hope you enjoy the wallpapers!

Holiday Urban Air Market

My second craft fair was this past Sunday. It poured in the morning and I was scared no one would show up to the fair, but there was a pretty good turnout though for the weather and location. I was pleasantly surprised. This one was a lot slower than the Etsy fair I went to two weeks ago, but I still had fun. Thanks for those that braved the weather and visited my both. I can't wait to design more things and go to more fairs next year. I just hope I get into them! :) For now, you can visit my store online

My First Craft Fair

I started designing cards almost two years ago. It's been one of my dreams to own my own stationery company. I got the itch after I made a holiday card for my friends and family in 2013. I decided that I would give designing cards a shot and designed a set of Valentine's Day card. I bought paper, envelopes, scanner, printer, and started painting. I had some good support from my friends and added new cards and prints every once and a while. I've also been juggling work though.

When I got back from Washington D.C. I decided that I wanted to ramp up Design + Happiness a little bit more by starting to go to craft fairs and see the response. I applied to a few and got waitlisted to all of them, but eventually got in to two of them. I was really sad when I didn't get into any, but I'm thankful to the vendors that decided not to go and opened up a spot for me.

My first craft fair was the SF Etsy Indie Holiday Emporium. I didn't really know how many people to expect. I figured it was the weekend after Thanksgiving, so everyone would be out of town and it would be pretty mellow. It was the complete opposite. The fair was jam packed. I had so much fun meeting people and selling my products. I was overwhelmed by the support and encouragement, it really gave me the inspiration to move keep working on my passion project. Thank you to everyone that came to my booth. I am forever grateful for your support.

I have a second craft fair coming up in two weeks at the Holiday Urban Air Market at Pier 70. Come by and say hi if you're bored. :) I can't wait to sign up for more craft fairs next year. Until next time, here's my Etsy store. Thanks!

Free Flair: We Are All Made of Stardust

I've been busy with work and it's easy to get all caught up in it. Sometimes, I just like to think about how we are all made of stardust, even if it's a poetic generalization, it's still crazy to think about. It also makes life feel a little more magical. Life is so fascinating and we need to slow down and enjoy it every now and then.

Free Flair: Happy Belated National Donut Day!

Yesterday was National Donut Day, as I'm sure many of you knew or saw on Instagram! I tried to find a donut near work, but didn't have any luck and so I didn't get to properly celebrate it. Today I decided to make a desktop and iPhone wallpaper in honor of National Donut Day though. Hope you like it! Enjoy!

Free Flair: I Left My Heart in San Francisco

I've been in DC now for 11 days now! I've been enjoying my time here, but I still miss San Francisco. I haven't been able to find a sublet for the summer yet, so I feel even more in limbo. I hope that I find a place soon. I don't know what I'll do if I can't find anything. *fingers crossed* Once I get fully settled in, then I can start exploring more.

In any case. while I'm here I wanted to continue to do some lettering. I don't have a printer, so I won't be making any cards I can print right now. Instead, I'm going to start making some free desktop and phone wallpapers. They're more optimized for Apple products just because those are the products that I use, but I'm sure they would also work on other products. Let me know if you have any trouble with them.

To kick things off, I've decided to make a background to remind me of how "I left my heart in San Francisco," not that I really need a reminder. :) I hope you guys enjoy it!
