Mushroom Hunting

Yesterday Grant and I rented a car and drove up the coast to Point Reyes to go mushroom hunting with ForageSF and the Mycological Society of San Francisco. It was so much fun to wander around in the woods off and look for mushrooms. They are well camouflaged with all the leaves and pine needles, but it was so rewarding when you were able to spot one.

There are so many different kinds of mushrooms and it was really cool to learn about some of them. We didn't find any poisonous ones, just non-edibles and edibles. It was great to have a guide to help indentify the mushrooms for us. It will be interesting to go with just a guide book next time.

I highly recommend going mushroom hunting when you get a chance. I can't wait to go again. It is best to go after a heavy rain. Pro tip: bring a basket to collect your mushrooms so they don't fall apart. Anyways, here are pictures from my iPhone of our adventure!
